Liverpool striker Luis Suarez says that his eight-match ban for racially abusing Patrice Evra was given "without any proof".

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has insisted that his mind is "clear" following the high-profile racism issue surrounding himself and Manchester United defender Patrice Evra.

The Uruguayan international was banned for eight matches in January after the Football Association deemed the 25-year-old guilty of racially abusing Evra during a clash at Anfield in October.

"My conscience is clear [on Evra]," Suarez told Russia Today. "They convicted me without any proof. [The ban] was weird, unbelievable.

"They wanted to get rid of a Liverpool player. I'm not interested in the English press. They told me the fans would whistle me and jeer me, but they've always done that, so it doesn't affect me."

The future of Suarez has been called into question in recent weeks but the frontman has dispelled any rumours linking him with a switch away from Anfield.
