Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish praises both sets of supporters following his side's 2-1 FA Cup win over Manchester United.

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has praised the behaviour of both sets of fans during Liverpool's 2-1 FA Cup win over rivals Manchester United.

The match was the first time the two sides had met since Luis Suarez was given an eight-match ban for racially abusing Patrice Evra. Fears over the reaction from both sets of fans had led Ferguson and Dalglish to plead with supporters to behave themselves.

Evra was booed by the home fans every time he touched the ball, but Dalglish believes both sets of fans were a credit to themselves and their clubs.

"I think both sets of fans were a magnificent advert for their clubs. Both clubs can be very proud of the fans they have here. There was a good bit of banter between both fans, which is brilliant because you don't want to take that away," said the Liverpool legend.

"I think in the main they were fantastic and the players were a credit to that because none of them tried to do anything other than play football. They (United fans) will be disappointed at losing but they deserve credit for contributing to the occasion.

"That is what the players did and the fans did; the fans are entitled to support their team, absolutely no problem. I don't think there was anything there that was untowards."

Liverpool's win completes a cup double over the Manchester teams, having seen off City in the Carling Cup semi-final on Wednesday.
