Recent signing from Arsenal Robin van Persie begins Manchester United's trip to Everton among the substitutes.

Robin van Persie will start his Manchester United career as a substitute during this evening's encounter away at Everton.

Instead, Danny Welbeck has been selected to partner Wayne Rooney in attack for the Red Devils.

Antonio Valencia will fill in at right-back, while injuries to a number of centre-backs has seen Michael Carrick drop into that position alongside captain Nemanja Vidic.

For hosting Everton, Nikica Jelavic will play as a lone striker, with Steven Pienaar offering support in an advanced midfield role.

Everton: Howard; Hibbert, Jagielka, Distin, Baines; Osman, Gibson, Neville, Pienaar; Fellaini; Jelavic

Man United: De Gea; Valencia, Vidic, Carrick, Evra; Scholes, Cleverley, Nani, Kagawa; Welbeck, Rooney
