Liverpool and Manchester United have seemingly been dealt a blow in their efforts to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara.
For a number of weeks it has been suggested that the Spaniard is keen to take on a new challenge, rather than extend his contract at the Allianz Arena past the end of 2021.
Club officials at the Bundesliga champions have also acknowledged that there is truth in the rumours regarding a potential exit for the playmaker.
However, despite him being heavily linked with a switch to the Premier League, it appears that the 29-year-old is still open to remaining in Germany.
After representing his country on Thursday night, Thiago told ZDF: "I only think about the game against Ukraine. Afterwards, we will see. Bayern is my home and I am happy to be there."
The former Barcelona man is allegedly valued in the region of £27m, a price tag yet to be met by either of the English sides.
