Manchester United are reportedly hoping to use Matteo Darmian as a makeweight in any bid to sign Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan this summer.
United were heavily linked with a move for the winger last year and manager Jose Mourinho is understood to have revived his interest following Perisic's impressive performances at this summer's World Cup, where he helped Croatia to the final.
The 29-year-old signed a new long-term contract at San Siro after his proposed move to Old Trafford broke down last summer and recently insisted that his focus remains on Inter.
However, United are still thought to be weighing up a bid, and Tuttosport claims that they are planning to offer Darmian as part of a player-plus-cash deal.
Darmian is expected to leave Old Trafford this summer having made just eight Premier League appearances for the club last season, and the full-back is understood to prefer a move back to his native Italy.
Perisic scored 11 goals and set up nine more for Inter last season.
