A report claims that Scott McTominay may spend the 2018-19 season away from Manchester United if the Red Devils bring in their midfield transfer targets.

Jose Mourinho will reportedly not stand in Scott McTominay's way if the youngster asks to leave Manchester United on loan ahead of next season.

The recently-capped Scotland international has been used 22 times during his breakthrough campaign at Old Trafford, earning special recognition by being crowned the inaugural Manager's Player of the Year.

United boss Mourinho is not against the idea of McTominay spending time out on loan, though, despite Metro claiming that four bids have already been knocked back.

The Red Devils will instead wait for new players to be brought in, before then weighing up the offers on the table and letting the 21-year-old have the final say.

Michael Carrick is to retire at the end of the season and fellow midfielder Marouane Fellaini's future remains undecided.
