Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has reportedly made contact with Antonio Rudiger's agent to register an interest in signing the Chelsea centre-back.
Rudiger's contract at Stamford Bridge is due to expire next June, and a number of clubs, including Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, are said to be competing for his signature.
A recent report claimed that Man United had also joined the race, with the Red Devils keen to explore the possibility of bringing the Germany international to Old Trafford.
According to Bild journalist Christian Falk, the English club's interim manager Rangnick knows Rudiger's brother and agent Sahr Senesie 'very well' and has 'signalled a willingness to negotiate'.
Rangnick is only expected to manage Man United until the end of the season before transferring into a consultancy role, which will involve bringing new players to the club.
The 28-year-old has again been a key player for Thomas Tuchel's side during the 2021-22 campaign, scoring twice and providing four assists in 21 appearances in all competitions.
