Real Madrid 'make movement' in their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain attacker Kylian Mbappe since the 2022 World Cup, according to a report.

Real Madrid have reportedly 'made movement' in their pursuit of Kylian Mbappe since the World Cup.

The 24-year-old was widely expected to join Los Blancos on a free transfer last summer, but he instead decided to sign a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain.

Mbappe has again been in brilliant form at club level during the 2022-23 campaign, scoring 20 goals and registering five assists in 23 appearances in all competitions.

Meanwhile, he starred for France at the 2022 World Cup, scoring eight times at the competition, including a treble in the final against Argentina, which the Blues lost on penalties.

Mbappe's current deal with PSG is due to run until June 2024, although there is the option to extend the agreement for another 12 months.

There remains uncertainty surrounding the Frenchman's long-term future in Paris, and according to The Athletic, Real Madrid have remained in contact with the player and his representatives.

The report claims that there has been movement in the Spanish club's pursuit since the end of the World Cup.

Meanwhile, the publication quotes a PSG source as saying: "The only club that can get him out of here is Real Madrid. Nothing is impossible in football, but we could ask for £352m (€400m), or not even put a price on him."

Mbappe is believed to have been frustrated with his club's summer transfer window, with reports claiming that the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Milan Skriniar and Bernardo Silva were promised to the attacker.

Manchester United and Liverpool are both believed to be keeping a close eye on Mbappe's situation in Paris, but it is thought that Real Madrid are the only serious candidates for his signature at this stage.

Due to his contract situation, PSG would be in a position to demand a world-record fee this summer, and a lot could depend on whether the club finally win the Champions League.

Mbappe moved to the Red and Blues from Monaco in 2017, initially on loan, and he has played 240 times for his current side, scoring 191 goals and registering 93 assists in the process.

Real Madrid are currently well-stocked in the forward areas, with Rodrygo and Vinicius Junior, both 22, having long careers ahead of them.

Endrick is also set to arrive from Palmeiras in July 2024, but Karim Benzema is now 35 years old, while Eden Hazard, Marco Asensio and Mariano Diaz could all leave the club in the near future.
