Juan Mata has reportedly expressed a desire to sign a contract extension at Manchester United.
The playmaker's current deal at Old Trafford, which he signed upon his arrival from Chelsea for £37.1m two years ago, is due to expire in 2018.
There have been suggestions of late that Mata may opt to return to his homeland in the summer, with former club Valencia and Atletico Madrid said to be keen.
However, the Daily Star has claimed that the 27-year-old would rather commit his future to the Red Devils.
The report adds, though, that Mata's United future could be thrown into doubt if Jose Mourinho is appointed the club's new manager at the end of the season.
Mourinho used Mata sparingly during his time in charge of Chelsea before sanctioning his departure to United.
