New Manchester United manager David Moyes and striker Wayne Rooney reportedly met to discuss the latter's future around three weeks ago.
The 27-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford ever since Sir Alex Ferguson claimed at the end of last season that he had handed in a second transfer request in three years - something that Rooney has reportedly denied.
Recent speculation had claimed that incoming Moyes and Rooney would hold talks when the United squad returns for pre-season training on Wednesday.
However, while a meeting is expected to take place, it will be a continuation of a get-together that the pair had last month along with Rooney's representative, according to Sky Sports News.
The report added that Arsenal have contacted United regarding the centre-forward's availability but were told by the Premier League champions that he is not for sale.
