Montpellier HSC defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa has quashed speculation over his future by agreeing a new deal with the French club.
The 23-year-old was linked with a host of top clubs, including AC Milan, Arsenal and Newcastle United, but has now extended his stay at the Stade de la Mosson for a further two years.
"Montpellier and the club's board are very pleased to announce the contract extension of captain Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa," read a statement from the Ligue 1 side.
"His deal was due to expire in June 2013, but the France international has chosen to continue the adventure here for a further two seasons. He is now linked to MHSC until June 2015."
Yanga-Mbiwa represented France at Under-21 level and has since earned three caps for the senior team.
