Newcastle United boss Steve McClaren has revealed that the club are "very close" to completing a deal for Anderlecht striker Aleksandar Mitrovic.
The 20-year-old confirmed on Saturday afternoon that he will be leaving the Belgian club this summer.
Mitrovic also hinted that St James' Park was his most likely destination, although no transfer has gone through so far.
However, McClaren says that he is confident of adding the Serbia international to his ranks over the coming days.
"We are very close to something," he is quoted as saying by Goal.com when asked specifically about the ongoing saga.
"There is a lot of speculation and pre-empting of decisions. But certainly from the feedback back home they are working very hard to bring one or two players back in."
Newcastle have brought in one new face already this summer - PSV Eindhoven flyer Georginio Wijnaldum.
