Notts County's FA Cup round two replay against Rotherham United this evening has been postponed.
The two sides had been due to meet at Meadow Lane for the right to take on League Two side Aldershot Town for a place in round four.
However, the freezing conditions that have forced a number of sporting events to be postponed in recent days have also claimed this encounter.
"In light of the recent drop in temperature, the groundstaff had put the frost covers on the pitch on Monday evening in a bid to beat the chill that has set in across the country," read a statement on Notts County's official website.
"However, having removed the covers late on Tuesday morning, to allow themselves time to prepare the pitch for the game, the freezing temperatures continued throughout the day and referee Darren Deadman was forced to conduct an inspection of the playing surface upon his arrival at Meadow Lane around 4.30pm. At the time, the referee was understood to be happy for the game to start.
"However, following discussions with managers of both teams and a further inspection of the pitch at around 6:20pm, the referee confirmed that the game could not go ahead due to the health and safety of the players."
The match will now be played next Tuesday evening.
