QPR's Charlie Austin: 'I'd trade my goals for Premier League survival'

Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin admits that he would swap his 17 goals for Premier League survival.

Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin has admitted that he would swap his goal tally to keep the club in the Premier League.

Chris Ramsey's side were relegated to the Championship almost a fortnight ago as a result of a 6-0 defeat at the hands of former champions Manchester City.

With regards to personal statistics, Austin impressed with 17 goals in his debut campaign in the top flight, but the 25-year-old has insisted that he would give them up for the benefit of the team.

"I said last week that I would trade in some of my goals to stay in the Premier League," Austin told the club's official website. "I am a team player but I felt we fell short this year.

"I always back myself. I was also confident enough to believe that if I got a chance in the Premier League that I could prove I was good enough to stay here. Unfortunately though I have fallen short as I haven't scored enough goals to keep QPR in the Premier League."

At the weekend, QPR director Les Ferdinand insisted that the club want to keep Austin, who he rates at between £15m to £20m.
