Former Arsenal and England star Ian Wright has called for FIFA president Sepp Blatter to quit over his controversial comments on racism in football.
Blatter said in an interview that on-field racism should be settled between players with a handshake after the game.
The 75-year-old later released a statement claiming that his views were misunderstood.
Wright had been selected to present the prestigious Ballon d'Or, but he now says that he would not be able to go ahead with the ceremony if Blatter remained in charge.
"When I was asked by FIFA to present the Ballon d'Or awards in January, it was like a dream come true," Wright said in The Sun. "But - and it breaks my heart really - Sepp Blatter's comments on racism are so blatantly out of touch and simply wrong and that changes everything.
"For there is simply no way I feel I could stand on that stage in Zurich, in front of Lionel Messi, Pele, David Beckham, Ronaldo and Co, feeling like it was a token gesture. And believe me, that's how it would feel now.
"I will not compromise my beliefs on certain things just for exposure and this is definitely one of them. If he doesn't come out and apologise then there's no way I can do it. And if he does apologise then surely that means he's got to go."
Argentina and Barcelona star Lionel Messi is favourite to win the Ballon d'Or in January.
