Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has revealed that he idolised Brazilian striker Ronaldo as a youngster.
Benzema has followed in his hero's footsteps at the Bernabeu, helping Madrid recapture the La Liga title with a string of impressive performances last season.
The French hitman revealed that no other forward came close to Ronaldo in his eyes.
He told Champions magazine: "Ronaldo is one of the greatest players of all time, I followed him closely as a kid.
"When I first came here I got to meet him, it was a dream. To me he was the best.
"He did what others couldn't do. He had speed and technique, everything you can ask for in a striker."
Benzema faces competition from Gonzalo Higuain to lead the line in Madrid's next match, an enticing Champions League tie away at Borussia Dortmund.
