Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale thanks departing manager Carlo Ancelotti

Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale thanks former manager Carlo Ancelotti after the Italian was sacked by the Spanish giants.

Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale has thanked Carlo Ancelotti after the Italian was sacked as manager of the club earlier this week.

Ancelotti brought Bale to the Spanish capital for a world-record fee of £85m in 2013, and the Welshman rewarded him with a fine debut season at the Bernabeu in which he scored in the final of both the Copa del Rey and the Champions League.

However, the Welshman has struggled to replicate that form in a trophiless campaign for Los Blancos this term, which ultimately cost Ancelotti his job.

Bale has also been linked with a move away from the club this summer, although earlier today he appeared to confirm that he would be staying in Madrid.ID:225059: cacheID:225059:1false2false3false:QQ:: from db desktop :LenBod:restore:1861:
