Raul has revealed that he wants to renew his contract with Bundesliga club Schalke.
The Spanish legend is currently paid £1.4m-per-year by former club Real Madrid to stay with the German side.
However, he will soon be ineligible for those payments when his contract runs out in the summer.
"I wish to continue to play at Schalke. Whether for one or two years is not decisive. I am confident and optimistic that we can reach an agreement," the 34-year-old told Bild.
"I'm assuming that it will not take too long. I feel very well, my head is clear and only with Schalke."
Raul became Madrid's all-time leading goalscorer during a 16-year spell at the Santiago Bernabeu.
