Real Madrid will reportedly begin work on handing striker Karim Benzema a fresh contract extension at the Bernabeu.
The Frenchman has been one of Madrid's most impressive performers since August, netting 11 goals from 15 appearances in all competitions.
Moreover, now in his 10th season at the Bernabeu, Benzema is one of the most senior figures in the dressing room along with Sergio Ramos and Marcelo.
According to Marca, Los Blancos have commenced work on striking a new deal with Benzema, whose current contract expires in 2021.
It is claimed that the 31-year-old wants a wage which reflects his importance to Zinedine Zidane's plans.
Speaking over the international break, teammate Eden Hazard insisted that Benzema was currently the best striker in world football.
