Bolton Wanderers are believed to be favourites to land New York Red Bulls' defender Tim Ream despite West Bromwich Albion's potential loan offer.
The USA centre-back was reportedly scheduled to have a trial at the Hawthorns but it is understood that Ream has switched his attention to the Trotters.
Owen Coyle is said to be keen on the defender and is prepared to offer £3m for his services in order to replace Gary Cahill, according to the Daily Mail.
Cahill is expected to leave in the winter transfer window, with Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Chelsea touted as possible destinations.
