Kettlewell sets sights on Scottish Cup run with Ross County

The Ladbrokes Championship leaders will take on top-flight Motherwell this weekend.

Ross County co-manager Stuart Kettlewell is aiming for a lengthy William Hill Scottish Cup run despite their other commitments.

The Ladbrokes Championship leaders have an Irn-Bru Cup semi-final against Bohemians or East Fife next month while promotion back to the top flight at the first time of asking is the obvious priority for the club.

But Kettlewell is relishing the chance to face Premiership opposition on Saturday when County travel to Motherwell in the fourth round.

And, after suffering half of their league defeats this season in their last two matches, the latest a 4-0 loss to Queen of the South, Kettlewell views the Fir Park trip as a chance to get their campaign back on track.

Kettlewell told Press Association Sport: "We have had two poor performances in the league back to back but our aim was to be among the top three or four clubs at this stage of the season, and we have certainly done that.

"Our aim now is to kick on for the second part of the season and a good performance at Motherwell can help us with that.

"At the start of the season, we said that every competition we enter we go in to win, we want to win every game we possibly can. If you start writing off games, that can detract from your momentum.

"We are in the semi-final of the Irn-Bru Cup, we qualified top of our section in the League Cup and we went up against Hibs at Easter Road in an excellent game of football. We acquitted ourselves really well and were unfortunate not to take it to extra-time.

"This game is no different. With the prestige the Scottish Cup has it's a huge game for us. Our position is to try to win. It will be a real test but we are going with the aim of taking the game to Motherwell."
