Schalke move to third in the Bundesliga with a comfortable 3-0 win against Wolfsburg at the Veltins-Arena.

Schalke have continued their impressive start to the Bundesliga with a 3-0 victory over Wolfsburg in Gelsenkirchen.

The Royal Blues went ahead in the 33rd minute when Jefferson Farfan headed home Christian Fuchs's cross from close range.

It became 2-0 to Schalke a minute into the second half thanks to Ibrahim Afellay, who shot home from the left side of the Wolfsburg box after being released by Lewis Holtby.

Benedikt Howedes could have made it 3-0 for the home side on 58 minutes had he been able to keep his header from a Farfan cross on target.

Schalke did not have to wait long for their third goal of the match at the Veltins-Arena, as Roman Neustadter turned in Afellay's corner from close range.

The victory sees Huub Stevens's Schalke climb to third in the Bundesliga table for the time being with 14 points from seven matches.
