Scotland midfielder Shaun Maloney has reiterated that he has no intention of quitting international football, despite completing his move to MLS side Chicago Fire.
The 32-year-old ended his four-year stint at Wigan Athletic earlier this week by making a switch to the United States.
However, Maloney remains hopeful of adding to his 37 previous caps, stressing that he is fully committed to the cause.
"I spoke to Gordon Strachan pretty early in January when I decided that this move was what I wanted," he is quoted as saying by the Evening Times.
"I spoke to him again a couple of days before I travelled over just for a second reassurance and there were no problems. He was actually very excited for the move and the new challenge.
"The national team means the world to me, it's a huge motivation, so it was good that I got the green light from him, there were no issues whatsoever with it."
Scotland resume their European Championship 2016 qualification campaign when they take on Gibraltar in March.
