Mauricio Pochettino wants young stars to stay put

Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino insists that he wants his young stars to stay at the club.

Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino is hopeful that he can keep hold of his young stars at St Mary's.

The likes of academy products James Ward-Prowse and Luke Shaw have impressed this season, while 25-year-old captain Adam Lallana has been praised for his performances in this early phase of the campaign.

Due to the Saints' positive start to the season, a number of players have been linked with possible moves away from the former Championship outfit.

"We will do as much as we can to make sure they are here for a long time," Sky Sports News quotes Pochettino as saying. "We cannot control or avoid other clubs being interested in our young players. That is out of our hands."

Southampton are currently fifth in the Premier League table.
