The last two winners of the World Cup will contest a friendly encounter in Vigo on Tuesday evening.
Current champions Germany will make the trip to Spain without a number of key players, most notably goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, who has returned to his club Bayern Munich to nurse a knee injury.
His absence could see Ron-Robert Zieler given a chance between the posts, but Jerome Boateng, Marco Reus, Christoph Kramer and Chelsea's Andre Schurrle have also joined Neuer in pulling out of the squad with fitness concerns.
Vicente del Bosque may also make changes to his Spain starting lineup, with the likes of Cesar Azpilicueta, Jose Callejon, Juan Bernat and Kiko Casilla all potentially coming into the team.
However, there will be no place for Manchester United keeper David de Gea as he continues to receive treatment for the finger injury that he suffered in training last week.
Germany lead 7-6 in the head to head record between these two European heavyweights, with eight draws being played out, although Spain have won the last three meetings, including the final of the 2008 European Championships.
