Jermaine Jenas says that he is hoping to earn a recall to the England team following his season-long loan move from Tottenham Hotspur to Aston Villa.
The midfielder last played for the national side two years ago, but he believes the more club games he gets under his belt for Villa, the better chance he has of returning to the fold.
"I've got to get into this team and get games under my belt," said the 28-year-old.
"If I can do that, and get some form going, I've always been confident that I'm good enough to play for England.
"To be fair to Fabio [Capello], he hasn't even had the chance to select me but, if I get that run, then come the end of the season my name will be in the hat for the European Championships."
The former Newcastle United player is in the Villa squad which travels to Everton on Saturday.
