Manchester City are reportedly close to a £23m deal for Spanish international Alvaro Negredo.

Manchester City are poised to beat Tottenham Hotspur to the signing of Spanish striker Alvaro Negredo, according to a report.

City are said to be close to agreeing a £23m deal for the Sevilla forward despite his current club initially wanting more money, Clubcall claims.

The Spanish club were said to be holding out for up to £30m.

However, the Sky Blues have reportedly been able to sign the player for less, with additional clauses included for winning the Premier League and enjoying success in the Champions League.

Yesterday, Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido insisted that neither City nor Spurs had made a bid for Negredo, who has scored 70 in 139 appearances for the Andalusian outfit since joining in 2009.
