Christian Benteke reportedly wants to join Tottenham Hotspur after handing in a transfer request at Aston Villa.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly Christian Benteke's preferred club now that he has handed in a transfer request at Aston Villa.

It was confirmed on Monday that the 22-year-old striker has officially asked to leave Villa Park after just one season in which he scored 19 Premier League goals.

Spurs are desperate to improve their forward line and seem to have switched their attention to the Belgian international after opting not to continue their pursuit of Brazilian frontman Leandro Damiao.

James Nursey of The Mirror tweeted: "Told the current feeling in #AVFC dressing room is Benteke fancies Spurs move."

Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool have all been linked with Benteke, while there is also reported interest from Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid.
