Report: Tottenham Hotspur close in on Toby Alderweireld capture

A report claims that Toby Alderweireld's representatives are to meet with Tottenham Hotspur to discuss a potential £14m switch from Atletico Madrid.

Atletico Madrid defender Toby Alderweireld will reportedly move a big step closer to signing for Tottenham Hotspur in the coming days.

According to Sky Sports News, the Belgium international's representatives will meet with Spurs later today to discuss terms on a permanent deal.

Alderweireld impressed on loan at Southampton last season, with Saints boss Ronald Koeman recently claiming that the 26-year-old wanted to remain on the South Coast.

However, Tottenham appear to have won the race to sign the versatile defender, who is thought to be rated at around £14m.

The Lilywhites have also been linked with Atletico ace Mario Suarez.
