Jamie Redknapp feels that Andros Townsend's World Cup place could be in jeopardy if he loses his slot in the Tottenham Hotspur team.
The former Liverpool captain thinks that the winger could see his position in the Spurs side come under threat by record signing Erik Lamela, which would harm his chances of playing in next summer's tournament in Brazil.
"Wembley has a new darling and Andros Townsend gets bums off seats with his direct running and pace," Redknapp told the Daily Mail.
"One possible problem ahead, I fear [is], can he keep his place in the Spurs team, especially if results continue to go against them?
"Manager Andre Villas-Boas will feel the pressure to play £30m Erik Lamela instead."
Townsend started Tuesday night's 1-0 defeat to Germany.
