Sunderland striker Jozy Altidore has been named Male Athlete of the Year by the United States Soccer Federation.
The 24-year-old failed to find the net for his country during 2012, but scored six in six to help them qualify for next year's World Cup in Brazil.
Altidore notched 31 for Dutch side AZ Alkmaar last season, earning himself a £6.5m summer move to the Stadium of Light.
However, he is still to open his Premier League account for the Black Cats.
Clint Dempsey had won the award for the past two years.
