Steven Fletcher picks up ankle injury

An ankle injury forces Steven Fletcher off at half-time during Sunderland's away encounter with Norwich City.

Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher could face a spell on the sidelines with an ankle injury.

The Scotland international picked up the complaint during his side's trip to Norwich City this afternoon.

Having had the problem assessed during the half-time break at Carrow Road, it was decided that Fletcher could no longer continue and as a result he was replaced by former Ipswich Town frontman Connor Wickham.

It is not known at the moment how serious Fletcher's injury is, although a scan is expected to take place tomorrow.
