Garry Monk hails "dominant" Swansea City display

Garry Monk hails his Swansea City side after their 2-0 win over Newcastle United on Saturday.

Garry Monk has hailed a "dominant" performance from his Swansea City side after they beat Newcastle United 2-0 on Saturday.

Bafetimbi Gomis and Jordan Ayew scored the goals for the Swans, while Daryl Janmaat was sent off shortly before the interval for the visiting Magpies, and Monk thought that his side were well worth the points at the Liberty Stadium.

Monk told Sky Sports News: "We were totally dominant from start to finish. Even before the sending off, I thought we were playing some really good stuff. It was a fantastic goal from Bafe in the first half. It set us on our way.

"In the second half it becam a bit more difficult because Newcastle dropped deep and we found it harder to get the space, but I thought we were very mature at the moment and kept control of the game.

"We created opportunities in the second half were we could have scored more. But it's a good win and three points. We were dominant today and it was a very professional display."

The Swans visit Sunderland next week.
