Bournemouth coach Eddie Howe admits that his side have had a difficult transfer window so far, signing just one new player this summer.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has admitted that his side have suffered from a difficult transfer window so far.

The Cherries have seen five players leave the club already this summer, while their only new arrival is David Brooks from Sheffield United.

Bournemouth finished in a respectable 12th place in the Premier League last season, but will need to cough up more than their current expenditure of £10.17m if they want to keep up with their rivals in the 2018-19 campaign.

"This transfer window has been difficult," Howe told reporters.

"Transfer fees as always tend to go northwards, with the World Cup year and the window closing earlier. From the manager's perspective, you want to get the players in as early as you can to work with them and build your team for pre-season.

"This year is perhaps the first season where we haven't been able to do that. Certainly between now and the start of the season we will be active and looking to do business."

Bournemouth have already recouped over £14m from departing players this summer.
