West Bromwich Albion boss Roy Hodgson has postponed talks over a new deal at the Hawthorns.
The 64-year-old is keen to secure the Baggies' Premier League safety before beginning negotiations over extending his contract, which expires in the summer.
"I've said to the chairman [Jeremy Peace] it would be nice if we can make certain we are on safe ground if we are to talk about the future," he said.
Hodgson has been touted as a possible candidate for the vacant England manager's job but says that the Albion supporters shouldn't worry about him remaining in charge next season.
"I can't give them the guarantee because I haven't signed a new contract," he said.
"But there is no reason for them to be concerned about that."
Hodgson took over at West Brom from Roberto Di Matteo last February.
