Roberto Martinez admits that Wigan Athletic are unlucky to have been wrongly denied an equaliser in Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Swansea City.

Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez has admitted that his side were unlucky to have been wrongly denied an equaliser in Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Swansea City.

Despite going 2-0 down, Emmerson Boyce pulled a goal back for the visitors to give them hope at the Liberty Stadium.

They should have been level minutes later, but Arouna Kone was wrongly flagged offside when he headed in Jean Beausejour's cross.

"It's a big call. When I was watching live, it looked level," Martinez told Sky Sports News.

"It's an extremely tight decision, and it's a shame because it was an outstanding piece of play.

"Sometimes these decisions just don't go in your favour."

The loss means that the Latics are 15th in the Premier League table with five points after eight games.
