Wigan Athletic are reportedly closing in on the signature of Stoke City winger Jermaine Pennant.
The 29-year-old, who experienced a host of off-field problems last season, is believed to be on Latics boss Roberto Martinez's radar.
It is understood that the two parties are close to agreeing a deal and that personal terms as well as a medical should be completed within the next 24 hours, according to Setanta Sports.
It is thought that Stoke boss Tony Pulis, who was rumoured to have fallen out with the former Liverpool player last season, is willing to sell Pennant due to the impending arrival of Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Michael Kightly.
