Wolverhampton Wanderers wing-back Ruben Vinagre is reportedly set for a move to Portuguese champions Sporting Lisbon, in a loan deal with an option to buy next summer.

Wolverhampton Wanderers wing-back Ruben Vinagre is reportedly set for a move to Sporting Lisbon on a loan deal with an option to buy.

The 22-year-old permanently joined Wolves in 2018 after an initial season-long loan from Monaco, but spent the last campaign out on loan to Olympiacos and Famalicao.

Vinagre's move to the Greek giants did not go to plan as he only managed four appearances between October and December 2020, therefore his parent club decided to send him to Portugal in the hope of more game time.

During his half-a-season with Famalicao, Vinagre managed three assists in 20 appearances in the Primeira Liga, and the Express & Star reports that he could be on his way back to Portugal.

The report suggests that Portuguese champions Sporting are working on a season-long loan deal with an option to buy for £7.5m next summer, while Wolves would also receive a percentage sum should Vinagre move on from Sporting in the future.

Vinagre has managed three goals and two assists in 70 appearances for Wolves.
