Gary Johnson is pleased that Yeovil Town successfully targeted Portsmouth's weakness from set-pieces.

Yeovil Town manager Gary Johnson has admitted that his side targeted Pompey's weakness from set-pieces to help them to a 2-1 win at Fratton Park.

Yeovil were 2-0 up before Pompey pulled a goal back through Paul Benson, but were unable to equalise, and Johnson was delighted with his team's showing against a side with the reputation of Portsmouth.

"We knew they kept advertising the fact they've lost games on set plays," Football 365 quotes Johnson as saying. "They had done a bit of scouting for us and it meant we could get in there and be dangerous. That's what we did.

"Let's be honest, we're doing all we can to fight above our weight. I give the players some stick and I do it to make sure they keep their standards and ambitions high.

"We don't want them to be shrinking violets when they come up against Portsmouth. We needed to let them know we were here for a proper game and we out-footballed them in the first half."

The result moved Yeovil up to 12th in League One.
