Luke Burgess's mother 'disappointed' in England snub for her son

Julie Burgess says that it is "heart-breaking" that her son Luke was left out of the England World Cup squad, while his three siblings were included.

The mother of the Burgess brothers Julie has expressed her "disappointment" at her son Luke missing out on an England call-up.

Luke's three brothers George, Sam and Tom were all included in Steve McNamara's 24-man World Cup squad.

However, there was no place for the South Sydney Rabbitohs prop, who made his name at Leeds Rhinos before moving to Australia in 2011.

"It's so disappointing he isn't in there," Julie told BBC Radio 5 live. "It's heart-breaking and I just can't quite understand it.

"He's dealing with it, which you have to do, but you have to understand it's such a huge disappointment to not be part of it. It's really hard as a mum to know what to say."

Luke is the eldest out of the four siblings at the age of 26.
