Leeds Rhinos back on top of Super League table with win over Hull FC

Leeds Rhinos claim a 32-20 victory over Hull FC at Headingley to move back into top spot in the Super League table.

Leeds Rhinos have come out on top 32-20 against Hull FC in an entertaining Super League clash at Headingley this afternoon.

The home side required just six minutes to find a breakthrough thanks to Danny McGuire, who touched down for the opener before the Black and Whites hit back through Jordan Thompson.

Leeds grabbed a stranglehold on the game before half time arrived, though, with both Joel Moon and Jimmy Keinhorst adding to the try count before the end of the opening 40 minutes.

Lee Radford's men were not letting go, however, and there were just six points in it when Curtis Naughton crossed over for Marc Sneyd to add the extras.

A second try of the game by Moon, coming after some fine Keinhorst build-up play, then put a Leeds side without back-to-back league wins since mid-April well on their way to maximum points.

Danny Houghton's try 20 minutes from time ensured that the game was not quite over, and there was some drama to come late on as Sneyd was shown a yellow for pulling down McGuire, who was himself sent to the sin bin for retaliating.

Kevin Sinfield was successful with the resulting penalty, while also splitting the sticks for a fifth time in the match late on to sandwich Fetuli Talanoa's try, leaving Carl Ablett to finally seal the points with the final act of the game for the Loiners.

The win takes Brian McDermott's charges back above St Helens into top spot in the table.
