The boot of Brett Hodgson has helped the Warrington Wolves go top of the Super League table with a 22-20 win at Wigan Warriors.
The hosts took a sixth-minute lead when Pat Richards kicked between the posts.
Warrington responded almost instantly as Ryan Atkins went down in the corner to score the first try of the match. Brett Hodgson was able to kick between the posts to give his side a 6-2 advantage.
The match swung back in Wigan's favour after 18 minutes when Gareth Hock bundled himself over the try line. Pat Richards was successful with his kick this time as the scores were levelled at 6-6.
Michael McIlorum's try put Wigan back in the lead, but Joel Monaghan leapt over the line to keep Warrington in the match. Hodgson kicked between the posts on the stroke of half time to see the sides go in 12-12 at the break.
Josh Charnley's goal five minutes after the break saw Wigan go back in front, but the evergreen Lee Briers intercepted a pass to touch down minutes later. Hodgson kicked the extras to put Warrington back in the lead.
Charnley and Hodgson exchanged goals as the sides remained level, but Hodgson kicked between the posts with nine minutes to play to secure the win for the visitors.
