Alasdair Dickinson relishing European Challenge Cup final clash

Alasdair Dickinson admits that Friday night's European Rugby Challenge Cup final clash against Gloucester Rugby is "massive" for the club.

Alasdair Dickinson has insisted that he and his Edinburgh teammates are feeling "confident" heading into this week's European Rugby Challenge Cup final against Gloucester Rugby.

The Pro12 outfit beat Newport Gwent Dragons 45-16 in the last round to set up a meeting with the 2006 winners at Twickenham Stoop.

Gloucester have been installed as favourites to come out on top, although Dickinson believes that being seen as underdogs can work in his side's favour.

"It's up there with probably one of the most exciting games I've played in," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "It's massive for the club and us as a group of boys.

"We're pretty confident. The last three games have been good and now it's just about fine-tuning a few things. We know what lies ahead of us, it's a massive test, obviously Gloucester are on form as well so it's going to be a challenge.

"I think from what the season's been like, I don't think anybody really expected us to get here at the start of the year. It's a huge game."

Dickinson spent four years at Gloucester between 2007 and 2011, in between a six-year spell at his current Murrayfield home.
