Report: England to announce Sam Burgess in World Cup squad

Rugby league convert Sam Burgess will reportedly be called up to the England squad for the 2015 World Cup.

Rugby league convert Sam Burgess will be named in England's 2015 Rugby World Cup training squad this week, according to reports.

The Bath centre has been in superb form in recent weeks playing as a flanker, and scored a try as his side beat Gloucester Rugby 50-30 on the final day of the Aviva Premiership season.

The Telegraph reports that Burgess's good form will earn him a call-up as one of eight centres, and there is every chance that he will be named in the final squad.

Burgess has yet to receive international recognition, although he did play for the England Saxons against the Irish Wolfhounds earlier this year.

Burgess switched to rugby union in February 2014.
