Warren Gatland pushing Welsh players to limit in preparation for Rugby World Cup

Wales coach Warren Gatland is putting his players through mentally and physically draining preparation ahead of the Rugby World Cup kickoff in September.

Wales coach Warren Gatland has said that he is pushing his squad to the limit in a bid to be fully prepared for the upcoming Rugby World Cup.

The Welsh players have been put through two different training camps, one at high altitude in Switzerland and one in extreme heat in Qatar.

The side is now back in Wales and Gatland is sure that his players will be in peak form by September.

"For this World Cup, we have tried to do things a little bit differently by going to Switzerland and Qatar and pushing the players mentally and physically," Gatland told Sky Sports News.

"We try to make training and the preparation harder than games so from now, as we go into a different phase in terms of warm-up games, we'll have done a lot of the conditioning and that is in the bank.

"That is something that will give the players a huge amount of confidence going into the next 50 days until the kick-off of the World Cup."

Wales face Uruguay in their opening Pool A match on September 20.
