Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has progressed to the fourth round of the French Open with a straight-sets victory over Jeremy Chardy.
Tsonga beat fellow Frenchman Chardy 6-1 6-2 7-5 in Paris.
The world number eight enjoyed the better of the first set, breaking his opponent twice and holding serve comfortably to wrap it up in just 21 minutes.
Chardy matched Tsonga in the early stages of the second set, but several unforced errors allowed his compatriot to break twice. Despite Chardy saving two break points, Tsonga took the set at the third attempt.
World number 27 Chardy performed better in the second set, claiming five games on his own serve. However, Tsonga made a crucial break at 6-5 and sealed the match on his own serve following another unforced error from Chardy.
Tsonga will now face Viktor Troicki in the next round.
