Laura Robson loses in the opening round of the Portugal Open to Japan's Ayumi Morita.

Great Britain's Laura Robson exited the Portugal Open at the round one stage to Ayumi Morita earlier today.

World number 41 Robson had been tipped to overcome her Japanese opponent, who is ranked two places below her in the standings.

However, four straight successful games in the opening set allowed Morita to win 6-2, before she broke Robson at five games apiece in the second set to wrap up the victory 7-5.

Robson has now suffered six first-round defeats in 2013.
