Rafael Nadal has reached the third round of the Rome Masters with a straight-sets victory over Florian Mayer.
The five-time winner was in devastating form in the first set as he breezed to a 6-1 triumph.
However, world number 24 Mayer put up more resistance in the second as he was able to keep the Spaniard at bay.
Nadal eventually broke the German at the end of the set before he served out the match 7-5.
