Rafael Nadal is on course to claim the Rome Open title after claiming a place in the quarter-finals with a 6-1 6-1 win over Marcel Granollers.
The Spaniard proved to his doubters that he remains the 'king of clay' after storming through the first set in 48 minutes, with his fellow countryman only able to claim one game on the board.
The number two seed, who crashed out of the Madrid Masters last week after complaining about the blue clay surface, kept control of the contest while Granollers failed to force a comeback.
It eventually became an easy win for the 25-year-old, who will face Tomas Berdych in the quarter-finals of the tournament.
