Milos Raonic has defeated Thomaz Bellucci in straight sets to advance through to the second round of the Madrid Masters.
The big-serving Canadian is seeded 11th for the clay-court tournament in Spain but he is ranked third in the ATP Race and managed to continue his early form in 2016 with a comfortable win over Bellucci.
The opening set was dominated by serve but after coming through a tie-break, Raonic breezed through the second to register a 7-6 6-1 victory.
The 25-year-old will play Alexandr Dolgopolov in the last 32, with Novak Djokovic a possible quarter-final opponent should both men come through their next two contests.
